The Old Man and The Sea - “Genesis”
In…oh, let’s say junior year of high school…I did a comic based on Hemingway’s classic tale about an old man…and a sea…
From this comic spawned a series of “Old Man” strips that I’ll start to post. I always liked the character and have considered bringing him into the “Shiny Things” world in some capacity but so far that’s yet to happen
Good gracious, my spelling was atrocious in high school.
Rejected Shiny Things -
Going through my sketchbooks and digitizing as many of the comics as I can. At least, the ones that are bearable enough to read. These are strips I sketched out that for some reason or another just didn’t make the cut.
I’m never go remember the exact year but this specific comic was a very early one. Notice the extremely long torso and…shoes? Are those shoes? I drew this and I don’t even know.
Yeah. Very early.

If the title is a bit confusing I apologize. What I mean by “Shiny Things before Shiny Things” is that the title of this comic was also called “Shiny Things”
Shiny Things Before Shiny Things - 2002
Well I’ll be. I completely forgot about these comics; I lost the original files some time ago but luckily they are still up on the world wide web.
These were my very first attempts at a web-comic in either freshman or sophomore year of high school. I guess I was 14 or 15 at the time. Have I really been cartooning for ten years? Sheesh.
